I thought about this song when I was planning my Rogers and Hammerstein album, Out of My Dreams. And then again it came to me in the studio, when we were recording the French album, Aimez-vous bien !.. There's a lot of wind this time of year. It’s the way the seeds get spread. It’s the way the winter blows away. It’s the way the awakening of spring arrives.
It Might as Well Be Spring was created as part of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's only original film score, for State Fair, in 1945 - and it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for that year!
